BCAM Presents Mexican Fiesta 2019 Cinco de Mayo
The team behind the Blythedale Coastal Adventure Market has been kept extremely busy behind the scenes, doing their best to provide members of the public with a monthly market to remember.
It’s been a few months since the last Market Update, therefore it seems appropriate to communicate the success of the previous two. On the 3rd of March, BCAM witnessed a smooth saxophonist take centre stage. The Andrew Young Concert and Gin Experience supplemented the flavourful market for the month of March. Andrew Young enjoys international acclaim, and it was a pleasure hosting him and his fans at the Market. In April’s edition, vendor numbers were swelled by exhibitors for Toys for Boys. Among others exciting features, Blythedale Coastal Adventure Market’s Toys for Boys saw an appearance from the Land Rover Terrapod. Another fun thing from that Sunday were the quad bike tours, which are set to become a permanent adventure aspect of BCAM. They’ll be back this weekend, along with all the usual activities families so enjoy.
May 5, or Cinco de Mayo, is a holiday celebrated by Mexicans and Mexican-Americans. This date represents the anniversary of the Mexican army’s victory over French invaders in 1862. May 5 has become synonymous with a party, with mouth-watering Mexican food and eye-watering tequila consumed in abundance. It has become widely celebrated in North America, and the team at BCAM is looking to bring the festivity to the shores of the North Coast of KZN. This Sunday, on May 5, Blythedale is hosting the Mexican Fiesta Cinco de Mayo.
The fun and festivity at this themed Market cannot be overstated enough. A mechanical bull will be joining the quadbikes, horses, slides and rides on Sunday May 5. Vendors have been granted license to decorate to their heart’s content, and it’s been said there will be more than a few bottles of tequila floating around. Maybe quench your thirst with a bottle of Salita’s – a refreshing and crisp Mexican beer-tequila hybrid. Their visual presence will certainly add to the festivity. All this is before even mentioning the food – a fiesta of flavour. The delicious, zesty, spicy, glorious food, both Mexican and otherwise. This is Nacho Average Market. Look out for our competitions on Facebook. There’s no shortage of entertainment for this Fiesta, with plenty of activities for the kids while the adults get festive. To promote responsible drinking, please bring a designated driver, or book your place on the BCAM Bus, travelling from Durban-Ballito-Blythedale.
