It was a life-changing win for one lucky Pecanwood Oktoberfester

Blythedale Coastal Estate powered the seventh edition of the popular Pecanwood Oktoberfest in the scenic Midlands.

For first-time ‘festers, Dean Cano and his fiancée Hollie Smith, it turned into an awesome life-changing experience. As one of ten finalists in our Win a R650,000 piece of land at Blythedale Coastal Estate, Dean was lucky to choose the key that unlocked the box containing the prize.

The build-up to his win was tense. Each finalist chose a key and tried it in the lock. Dean had to wait for five finalists before it was his turn to insert his key and … the rest is history!

“This really opens things up for us,” said an overjoyed Cano. “We are planning on getting married next year and winning this land comes with a whole set of new prospects,” he continued.

“This was our first experience of the Pecanwood Oktoberfest,” said Development Director, Andrew Thompson. “As an outdoor adventure festival which draws a top-end crowd from around KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng, we saw it as an opportunity to expose our stunning estate to a new market.”

It was a chilly early start for festival-goers on Saturday morning as they set off to run or pedal around the rolling hills. “The emphasis is on fun and participation,” said festival organiser, Jared Wilson. “Our course designers don’t show any mercy but we inject some fun and festivities along the way.”

With the theme “Choose your Adventure,” there was plenty for fester to do – challenge their 4×4 skills, ride the bull, have a game of beach volleyball, giant Jenga, or throw a few man-size darts.

The Blythedale Coastal Estate’s Lazy Lounge was a popular chill zone. “It was a great opportunity for us to share what Blythedale Coastal Estate has to offer,” explains Thompson. “With our interactive 3D model, prospective buyers can see the layout of the whole Estate and get a sense the spectacular natural beauty of the 1,000 hectare property.”

It was a lazy, social day out – with best local craft beers on tap, refreshing gin and an interesting mix of vendors in the food court.

By the time the sun went down, the focus moved to the Big Tent where top acts, including the Gus Brown Band and Desmond and the Tutus treated the crowd to some rocking tunes.

Blythedale Coastal Estate offers a premium lifestyle for outdoor enthusiasts and families looking for a secure environment where they can enjoy activities including trail running, mountain biking, golf, equestrian sports and all the excitement that a resort hotel brings.

Look out for the Blythedale Sport and Lifestyle Festival scheduled to be held at the Estate’s Event Bowl on 19-20 May 2018. It’s going to be an epic weekend of outdoor sports, fun at the pool and top music acts.
