Fun Fest 2019 – A Hit with the Kids
Fun Fest 2019, held at the Blythedale Coastal Adventure Market on Sunday 4 August, brought so much joy to children that there will certainly be another edition next year. The market was busy, with swelled numbers of marketgoers and vendors alike.
In addition to the usual attractions, Fun Fest essentially takes elements from an American-style funfair, and adds them to the unique coastal market that takes place every month. So, in addition to the usual waterslide and inflatable fun, kids enjoyed two carnival rides and five carnival games – a few were fortunate enough to win some fun prizes. Fun Fest was absolutely packed with colourful clowns, stilt walkers, face painting and a balloon artist. A local tractor was operating during the day, and allowed families to explore the beauty of the surrounding forest.
Over 70 vendors came through, on what was a mostly beautiful day. The venue was also packed with marketgoers, and good times were had at the vendor stations, Beach Bar, coffee shop and beneath the Seaview Marquee, where the ever-brilliant 2 Unique wowed the crowd with their creative take on popular jazz, blues, pop, and rock.
The eagle-eyed among us spotted more than a few whales. Unfortunately, they were about 2km offshore, so not as visible as usual. However, the migration of the humpbacks continues west, and hopefully on Spring Day these majestic creatures will be slightly less shy. Next month, on 1 September, Blythedale Coastal Adventure Market presents Spring Fest with the Blarney Brothers. So wear bright colours, and don’t forget your dancing shoes!
