Blythedale Coastal Estate Annual Golf Day

 In Events

It was a (mostly) beautiful day for a round of golf at Simbithi Eco Estate. 172 golfers teed off, for a great day out with friends and colleagues, all in support of an honourable cause. The Blythedale Coastal Estate Annual Golf Day, powered by eLan Property Group, donates all profits to the New Guelderland Combined School. We are happy to announce that R35 000 was raised in this instalment, held on Thursday 22 November. This follows from the more than R70 000 raised during multiple Simbithi Sings events. Men and ladies alike were aiming extra-hard for the pins, as there were awesome individual and team prizes up for grabs. Hole-in-one prizes were sponsored by various generous companies. Potential prizes included a Volvo XC40, a choice of one of three Vespa models, and a Sea-Doo GTI 130. Unfortunately, no golfer hit a hole-in-one, and the entire clubhouse was slightly thirstier than they would have liked to be! However, other great prizes were awarded, sponsored by Southern Sun Resorts, East Coast Radio, Modern Mowers, Bartercard, and The Spirit of eLan. Ooba Bond Originators sponsored water; and caps and halfway house meals were kindly provided by Simbithi Hotel and Suites.

Prize-winners are listed below:
Kevin Robinson won closest to the pin on the 5th.
Mark Biagi won closest to the pin on the 9th.
Corey Ducasse won closest to the pin on the 10th.
Steve Phytides hit a monster drive on the 18th to win Longest Drive.
3rd placed team were Brendan Cavanagh, Anesh Pitomber, Rej Ellaya, and Lee Archary on 88pts.
2nd placed team were Calvin Isaacs, Don Raw, Jared French, and Richard Johnson on 90pts.
1st on the day, and the overall winning team were Euro Psiloyenis, Alistair Cameron, Angie Cameron, and Theresa Walker on 91pts.

Golfers had to navigate some tricky conditions, especially once the wind picked up just after lunch. We’d like to thank them for playing, and we’re certain everyone at New Guelderland appreciates their efforts as well. Golfers, spectators, and Simbithi Residents all came together to watch the ceremony, and enjoy the drinks and live entertainment that capped off a festive day. The music was well received, and special thanks go to Danny Fisher, Greg Taylor, DJ Spike, and the day’s host, Kurt Darren, for keeping the party going well into the evening. Thanks to all the guests, and Andrew Thompson and his team, who worked so hard in making this event a success.
