Blythedale Activities
With mass development still on the horizon, the team at Blythedale Coastal Estate has created basic infrastructure for a range of nature activities that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. The Estate is open to the public to enjoy all that this North Coast natural hotspot has to offer. These activities take advantage of the 3km stretch of beach, the 320ha indigenous coastal forest, and 2.9km estuary that fall within Blythedale’s perimeter. The following are activities offered at Blythedale, whether during the events held here or for personal trips away from the crowds:

Grumpy’s Beach Bar
Open on the first Sunday of every month, the picturesque Beach Bar has become a firm favourite amongst monthly visitors to Blythedale. Currently available through bookings only (Heidi 083 463 0691 and Ernest 082 355 0393).

Surfski fishing
Weather permitting, surfskis can launch off our beachfront and enjoy some of the best game fishing on the North Coast.

Beach or rock fishing
There are several great fishing spots along Blythedale’s 3km coastline. A quick walk up the beach will reveal one or two.

River kayaking/canoeing
Locally known for having the cleanest river water on the coast, the Umhlatane River and estuary make for some beautiful kayaking and canoeing.

Mountain biking
With dirt roads and trails crisscrossing the whole Estate, many people have found Blythedale to be a perfect destination for some off-road cycling.

Off-road motorbikes and quadbikes
While the trails may be too small for this, the 1000ha Blythedale Coastal Estate offers roads aplenty to kick up some dirt, and great views along the way.

Equestrian exploring
The forests, wide-open beaches, and riverside make for some interesting exploring on horseback, in an unspoiled natural area.

Nature trails
These can be used for hiking, birding, or trail running, and most of them lead through the forest, immersing you in nature, and lead to many beautiful sights including the beach and estuary.

Trail Running
Blythedale Coastal Estate has played host to a number of trail running events, however, this is also something you can enjoy there in your own time.

Picnic sites
The stunning views and natural landscape speak for themselves, and there are plenty of beautiful picnic sites to choose from if you’re willing to explore.

myrun
Every Sunday at 8am, Blythedale plays host to myrun in the Event Bowl and adjoining trails. It’s been remarked as one of the most awe-inspiring myruns in the country. For more info on myrun, where you can earn 300 Vitality Points per run, please visit their website

Markets
On the first Sunday of every month, Blythedale Day Out (formerly the Blythedale Coastal Adventure Market) takes place, offering a range of food, drinks, and activities in the Event Bowl and at Grumpy’s Beach Bar.

Team building and school tours
Our venue can be used for team building and infrastructure is in place for daily school tours, with fun activities such as water slides and jumping castles on site.
