Super Naweek – another unbelievable weekend at Blythedale Coastal Estate!
The Capitec Super Naweek showcased much of what Blythedale Coastal Estate has to offer both locals and tourists. The Blythedale Event Bowl again proved itself to be a world class facility, a great showcase for current progress and for things still to come.
The Blythedale Event Bowl, from the 22nd-24th June, played host to the inaugural Capitec Super Naweek Musiek- en Familiefees. Hosted by Kurt Darren, and featuring the likes of Dozi, Pieter Smit, Karlien van Jaarsveld, Dewald Wasserfall, Die Campbells, Nadine, Ray Dylan, and Emo Adams, the Bowl came to life with live music and entertainment enjoyed by a crowd of all ages. Close to 2000 people came together to enjoy this fantastic Afrikaans experience. A shout out has to go to Ed Hill and his Innovational Consulting team, our partners Capitec, and all éLan employees, for the hard work and dedication they showed in making this event the success that it was. This is further proof of the Event Bowl’s capacity to host large-scale events on-site, following on from the success of last year’s Warrior Race.
There were several prominent features which conspired to make the first Capitec Super Naweek a unique and exciting experience. Firstly, the star-studded lineup on stage, set against the picturesque backdrop of Blythedale’s lush coastal forest and magnificent coastline, performed really well. Their singing was heartfelt, and they engaged the crowd for almost two whole days. People were singing and sokkie-ing as drinks flowed and spirits soared. In addition, the actual set up provided satisfaction to the whole family. The “Blythedale Bomber” waterslide (baptised by Ed Hill) snaked its way for 300 metres down the hill, through a forest, past the glamping area, and eventually coming to a stop outside the marquee marketplace in the heart of the Event Bowl. The wide variety of concession stands gave festival-goers a huge variety of food to choose from. Camping and glamping sites were part of the setup, as was the luxurious VIP tent, where people could rub shoulders with South African celebrities.
If you’re reading this and you attended Capitec Super Naweek, we at éLan and Blythedale would just like to thank you for coming, and for helping to make the festival the success that it was. We hope you had a great time and that you’ll join us again next year for the second exciting instalment. Also stay tuned for Toyota #Warrior 5, powered by Reebok, coming to the Blythedale Event Bowl on the 14th July.
